Maternity Photography
Sweet Cyrus is a big brother now, but in August we had a little fun at the lake before his little brother joined their family! There is something so magical about maternity sessions. There is seriously nothing I love more than an expecting mother. Those last few weeks of waiting and anticipation can be extremely magical.
There is *almost* nothing more beautiful than documenting your last few weeks before a new little one joins your family. I had really been looking forward to this maternity session with the Roman Family. Kathryn runs an extremely successful business here in Denver Colorado and is an amazing resource for so many families here in the metro area! I was so honored when she contacted me to document her maternity session and her birth. We are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of their newest family member here in few days. We all know these last few days can be hard, could you leave this family a few encouraging words in the comments.
One night Lily and Craig were at our house, it was about 7pm and she could barely keep her eyes open. I flat out told her she was pregnant. She didn't believe me at all, but first thing the next day I got a text from her with a positive pregnancy test! Not only are they expecting their little one next February, but this is their "Rainbow Baby" !! A rainbow baby is a baby that is following a miscarriage, or loss. I am so excited to not only help announce their pregnancy but I am thrilled that they want me to photograph their birth also! Congratulations you two! I am so excited for this journey you are on!!
Because of the difference in images in the adorable family's gallery they are getting two blogs. Monet is an amazing birth photographer here in Denver and I was a tiny bit (a lot-a-bit) nervous to have her and her family in front of my camera. They couldn't have been more natural though and they made my job so easy. I really love maternity photography, more so than any other type of photography. There is something so beautiful with a mom going through this beautiful transition into a mother, even if it's for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time. Pregnancy is such a personally life changing time and no pregnancy is the same. I really believe that every mom should have this chapter documented with every child.
There is seriously nothing more beautiful than seeing your family expand.

I absolutely adore Mommy and Me sessions. I love seeing mothers connect with their little ones. I book these motherhood sessions all year long in the Denver Metro Area.
Back in February I was able to take part in a beautiful Maternity Shoot out in Louisville CO. I had never participated in a session quite like this before. I am so glad I was able to go because it was such an awesome learning experience! There were so many beautiful families and mama's. This mama had her sweet baby Thomas in March.

This mama is one of the strongest humans I know. Her sweet son is battling Langerhans cell histiocytosis She recently found out that she is expecting baby number THREE and although timing isn't perfect (is it ever) this baby is so loved already. I was able to document the birth of their sweet Norah last year and this mama and I became amazing friends.

Kathryn was such a trooper. She was my last model during our Maternity Shoot Out in February. The sun was setting and it was definitely getting a little bit chilly out. We even had the opportunity to use a smoke bomb. The more I shoot maternity the more I fall in love with it. I can't even put it into words how much I love photographing mothers. A few weeks ago I was so excited to join several other photographers for a 'Maternity Shoot Out' We had several gorgeous pregnant mamas, and some families there for us to photograph. Each photographer styled their own maternity sessions and we all had about 30 minutes with each beautiful mama/family. I have never participated in maternity session like this before and to say it was a BLAST would have been an understatement. I had the opportunity to do a lot of experimenting with these fabulous ladies and I am thrilled with the results. My Cousin Bethany and I have always had this special unspoken bond. No matter how far apart we are or how long we go without talking, when we finally get together (which unfortunately isn't often enough), she is like my best friend. I was really honored to be able to photograph her and her husband Mark in anticipation of the arrival of my sweet new cousin Skylar. This was probably the most nerve wracking session I have ever had, not only did these images need to be perfect for her because she is family, but we were very limited on time and when we fist started out it was so cloudy out. I was so excited when the sun started to set and started peeking out from under the clouds. I am so excited for Skylar to make her arrival any day/week now and I can't wait for baby snuggles when I make a trip to Arizona in March.
